Good Lighting Starts on Paper, Not in a Box
Anyone can stick a few solar stakes along a walkway. A real lighting design is different. It starts with your home: the lines of the architecture, the texture of the brick or siding, the big oak in the front yard, the dark corner by the garage. We map all of it, then place each fixture with a purpose — this one washes the front facade, that one grazes the stone wall, those three guide you up the walk.
The result does not look like "yard lights." It looks like your home was always meant to look this way after dark.
What the Design Covers
A full design touches every zone of your property. The front: facade lighting that shows off your home's best features, path lights that guide visitors safely, and entrance lighting that says welcome. The sides:security lighting for dark corners and gates. The back:deck and patio lighting that turns your outdoor space into a second living room, plus moonlighting from your best trees. Each zone gets its own control, so you can light the whole property or just the patio.
See It Before You Buy: The Night Demo
Here is the part most lighting companies skip. After we build your design, we come back after dark with real demo fixtures and set up the key effects — right in your yard. You stand on your porch and see what your home will actually look like. Want the tree brighter? The path lights dimmer? We adjust on the spot. You approve the look before a single trench is dug. No guessing, no surprises.
How It Works: Our Process
Step 1 — Free consultation. We walk your property in daylight, talk about your goals, and take notes and photos.
Step 2 — The design. We build a fixture-by-fixture plan: what goes where, which technique, which zone. You get a written proposal with itemized pricing.
Step 3 — Night demo. We set up the key effects after dark so you can see and approve the look.
Step 4 — Install and night aiming. One to two days of install, then a return visit after dark to fine-tune every fixture.
Designed for LED From the Start
Every design we build uses low-voltage LED. That matters for the design itself: LED fixtures are small, cool-running, and easy to hide, which means we can tuck lights into planting beds, under cap stones, and into trees without bulky hardware showing. The transformer sizes to your exact fixture count, with room to grow if you add on later. Read more in our LED vs. halogen guide.

Designing for Your Home's Style
Every home has an architectural personality, and the lighting should match it. A brick colonial wants warm, even washes and symmetrical accents. A craftsman bungalow wants gentle light that shows off woodwork and tapered columns. A modern new build wants clean lines and precise grazing. During the consultation we study your home's style and build the design in its language — never a one-size-fits-all kit.
The landscape matters just as much. A formal front yard with trimmed hedges gets structured, balanced lighting. A naturalistic wooded lot gets fewer fixtures, lower light levels, and moonlighting that feels like it grew there. We design for what you actually have, not for a catalog photo.
What Your Proposal Includes
After the consultation you receive a written proposal that spells out everything: a fixture-by-fixture plan showing what goes where, the transformer size and zone layout, the control system, and itemized pricing. No lump sums, no mystery lines. You will know exactly how many fixtures, which techniques, and what each part costs.
The proposal also notes the night demo plan — which effects we will show you after dark before you commit. Most clients tell us the proposal alone taught them more about lighting than hours of internet research. And if you want changes, we revise until the plan feels right. The design is not finished until you love it on paper — and then we prove it at night.
How It Works: Our Process
Step 1 — Consultation. We walk your property in daylight, study your home's architecture and landscape, and talk through your goals — curb appeal, safety, entertaining, or all three.
Step 2 — Design and proposal. We build a fixture-by-fixture lighting plan with zones, controls, and itemized pricing, delivered as a written proposal.
Step 3 — Night demo. We return after dark with demo fixtures and show you the key effects in your own yard. You approve the look before any work begins.
Step 4 — Install and aiming. One to two days of installation, then a return visit after dark to fine-tune every fixture by eye.
